The first thing you should understand is: Working with a Marriage Counselor is Risky!

Many therapists end up advocating breaking up.  I don’t.  I’ve rarely seen a relationship that was beyond saving.

If you know you want to stay together, or even if you’re unsure but are afraid of breaking up your family, let’s talk.  I’m 100% on your side, and I can help.

I’ve saved countless  at-risk relationships.  Breakup is NOT inevitable.  It is NOT too late, even if separation, breaking up  or divorce is already underway.

Please read on to see how we can save your relationship together.

Success Stories:

“Fred’s approach is non-judgmental, and his techniques do work quickly if you are dedicated to following the steps he’s laid out for you. He provided us with time-tested ways to stop our fights before they start, and the techniques one needs to function more healthily in their relationship. Best of all he’s started to give us a way to better accept each other the way we are – rather than try to change one another. And he does this without psychoanalysis or psychobabble. It is a very refreshing approach to couples counseling; He’s not just a relationship saver, he’s a relationship builder.  Thanks Fred!”

– Nichole and Jake Chambers

“Before we came to Fred Talisman, my wife and I were on the verge of divorce. Issues had become so complex and intertwined that we couldn’t begin to sort through them. Trust had been breached as we “acted out” in various ways to relieve the stress. Fred provided both a supportive, safe container as well as the feedback necessary for us to separate the issues from our emotions and the issues from each other. With his help, our marriage has transformed into a place where we can manage our relational and situational challenges in a way that brings us closer together, rather than pushing us apart. Thank you, Fred, for helping us save and positively transform our marriage!”

– David and Christina Litman

“By the time I found Fred Talisman, my girlfriend was ready to break up with me. She felt that she could never trust me again and that she could never forgive me.  I had tried other things and spoke to other people, but not only were their methods ineffective, some actually made things worse with her!  I saw couples counseling with Fred as my last resort but my girlfriend wouldn’t do it with me. I’m not geographically close to Fred’s office, so I worked with him alone by phone. To my amazement, working with Fred by phone was more valuable than any help I’ve gotten in person.  I saw the first improvements with my girlfriend almost immediately after the first session with I did with Fred. My girlfriend and I are now stronger than ever as a couple. It’s amazing.  I’m very grateful and thankful for all of Fred’s incredible help. The skills he taught me have also improved every other relationship in my life, including my friends, relatives, work mates and casual acquaintances. Fred not only showed me how to save my relationship. He also forever changed my life for the better.”

Can Fred Save Your Relationship?

For over 20 years I’ve specialized in saving relationships that were on the verge of ending even when only one person still wanted the relationship to work and even when they had no hope that it could be saved. I am happy to help you to rescue your relationship.

It’s my passion to save relationships, to keep families together and to make the relationship work for both people.

You probably know of people who went to a marriage counselor and doing so  wound up ending their relationship.

When a relationship is in crisis, it’s in a very delicate state. Working with a marriage counselor is not a neutral experience.  If couples counseling is done with the right person, it can make the difference between saving your relationship and your relationship ending. If done with the wrong person, it can push your relationship right over the edge for good.

Plus, marriage counselors have biases.  Some marriage counselors think that if a relationship isn’t working, or if there have been issues like infidelity or ongoing disrespect, a person should get out. They’ll tend to guide an individual or couple in that direction. I think of them as “relationship enders”.

I am 100% a “relationship saver”.

Our first session together is what I call the “Relationship Breakthrough Session.

Here’s what will happen. First I want to hear briefly from you where you are right now in the relationship. Because I’ve been doing this for over 20 years, it doesn’t take me long to get enough information to understand what we’re dealing with.

Then, I help you create a vision of how you would like your relationship to be, and we’ll identify the obstacles that are keeping that from happening.

In our very first session I’ll give you a personally tailored step by step plan.

I’ll lay out for you the skills and solutions that I’ll be teaching you to help you save your relationship and keep your family under one roof.

I’ll end that session by giving you specific next steps you can take to start making things better right now. You’ll come away feeling energized and hopeful, possibly the first hope you’ve felt in a very long time.

Can your relationship be saved?

If you’re like many people who’ve contacted me for help, you might be thinking that it’s just too late to save your relationship.  You might feel that there’s so much accumulated hurt and resentment that you fear it’s beyond saving.

But in my experience, most relationships end unnecessarily.  The breakup could have been prevented with the right kind of help.

If your partner isn’t willing to do counseling with you, is your relationship doomed?

Here’s a question for you: “How many people in a relationship does it take to save the relationship?” Obvious answer, right? It takes two people to save a relationship. Of course. Right?…WRONG! It takes a minimum of one person to rescue a relationship.

In my private practice, with so many of the relationships I’ve helped, including the ones that were in crisis, I’ve worked with one only person. They took what I gave them and successfully stopped their breakup and reconciled their relationship.

Sometimes a partner just isn’t willing to join the counseling process.  That’s okay.  In my 20 plus years as a relationship saving marriage counselor, I have helped to save many relationships where only one person received my direct help.
